Jane Bristowe marries a spontaneous use of line and a passion for colour. These twin hallmarks of her highly original pastels are now found in an expanding array of media. Jane is inspired by her everyday surroundings: birds, nature and human forms.
The freshness essential to Jane's work owes much to her mercurial style; speed really is the essence. In her recent etching and linocut work, she discovers a new expressive freedom and originality through the creation of simple line drawings.
Jane takes inspiration from the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist painters including Klee, Matisse and Picasso.
