For Anna Bance art is a passion. graduated from the London College of Fashion in 2002 to follow a career into PR. Despite this her artistic creativity has not be dampened and she continues to draw and paint in pastel and watercolour.
Anna particularly enjoys painting the organic form: from still life in the form of fruit, vegetables and flowers to the landscapes of Poland, where her she spent many summers at her grandparents’ house. Her style is free and follows the abstract; colour plays an important role in her work. Her fruit are often done with mixed media using acrylic, chalk and ink, which highlight the tonal transitions
of the object and bring out the texture.
'More than with oils or acrylics, I find that pastels really give me the freedom to blend the exact colour and tone that I desire. Recently I’ve also enjoyed adding ink to the painting before applying the pastel. It really adds layers, bringing the subject alive and creating a more advanced textural contrast'
The 20th Century artist Georgia O’Keefe influences her work in chalk and pastel: like her, Anna’s interest is in richness of colour and texture.
