Angus Taylor is an experienced professional photographer specialising in editorial, portrait and landscape photography. At the age of 12, Angus discovered the art of photography and luckily for us it grew from a passion to a profession. Having finished studying as a photographer at Nottingham Trent University in 1997, Angus was quick to turn his talent into a career.
"There has to be a balance behind the pictures. Learning photography, I remember feeling this intense excitement at creating my first images. That feeling has never left me, only grown as I have found my own 'voice', balancing expectation with surprise." He rarely stages his composition, much preferring to capture the moment, as Henri Cartier-Bresson, a huge influence on Angus, once said it is about finding the "Decisive Moment" and that if exactly what Angus does. Angus's photography is something quite different, his use of lighting and having the sitter in their own natural environment, be it a hunt master on horse back or a Formula One driver on the track, is something that truly captures the essence of the subject. Angus creates unclutteredness, a balance between romance and realism, and an opportunity to delve deeper into the story behind the moment.
Based in London, and with a home in South Wales, Angus is a keen fisherman and lover of country pursuits. This gives him the opportunity to see some of the UK's most stunning countryside and landscapes and capture them on film. This however has not stopped him from travelling the world on assignments for UK and US based magazines and newspapers. From the heat and dust of Cairo's food markets, the forgotten trails of Vietnam to the ripe splendour of the Californian wine country; the sheer scope of life captured by Angus is breathtaking.
